The Hungary plates are hand-built from white/ivory stoneware clay. Although I live in Switzerland, I love my Hungarian culture. The plates in this series are inspired by Hungarian Falk Tales, my favorite tales that I still like to watch as an adult. The plates are glazed with dark brown Engobe, while they are bone dry and free hand carved with a sgraffito technique. They got a beige/light pink celadon cover at the end.
Each piece in the Hungary series is fired to a high temperature (ca. 1230c), which makes them very strong and solid, and suitable for microwave use and dishwasher.
All of my ceramic pieces are hand-built and individually finished and glazed, therefore natural variations in colors, textures and shapes from piece to piece are to be expected.
The whole Hungary series is completely food safe and lead free.
If this unique item has already found a new home, I would be happy to offer a similar piece in the same design. Please contact me for backorder.
